Background
I have played card games since childhood. I started with Magic, then Pokémon became the obvious one and has stayed that way. If you are reading this, you probably know exactly what I mean. That childhood interest turned into something increasingly serious as the trading card market grew, until I made it my occupation.
I also spent over ten years in banking and wealth management, a trade that builds habits which serve you well when you have to steer import flows, currencies and stock.
I started out selling to private collectors, over a thousand transactions completed, before realising that trade buyers were who I wanted to work with: steady volumes, people who know the product, and relationships that last.
Why Japanese cards
Japan is where sets come out first, often several months ahead of their international counterparts, and on a calendar of its own. Some boxes never leave the country at all, and the print quality of Japanese editions is immediately recognisable to a collector.
They are the heart of the hobby, and at the same time the hardest to obtain in Europe under decent conditions.
Pokadonys grew out of that observation. In France, very few businesses devote the bulk of their activity to Japanese cards. Retailers buy from generalists, one shipment at a time, with uncertain lead times and no contact who really knows the sets, the Japanese release rhythms, or the difference between a shrink and a no-shrink display. We built the opposite: a specialist house, with stock held in France and a phone number you can call.
How we source
We buy directly from authorised Japanese distributors. These are not opportunistic purchases on marketplaces but ongoing relationships, maintained on site during regular trips to Japan.
Every delivery is received and checked before entering stock: integrity of the factory seal, conformity of the Japanese references, condition of the cases and displays. The goods are then imported, cleared through customs and warehoused in France, so that you have no customs formality to complete and nothing to pay on delivery.
What we guarantee
- Permanent stock
- Our warehouse in Moselle, between Metz and Strasbourg, holds between 2,000 and 3,000 displays and boxes at any time, across more than forty references. Every product page shows the real stock level, so you know what is available before you order.
- Short lead times
- Orders are picked within 24 to 48 hours, the goods leaving from France rather than Japan.
- Genuine Japanese editions
- All official, sealed at source and checked on arrival.
- A real contact
- Around a hundred shops and businesses work with us today, in the Grand Est region and across France. I visit my customers: nothing replaces being there to understand what a shop actually needs.
Our aim
We want to make Japanese cards available throughout Europe, on clear terms and at prices we hold.
We sell to any resale business established in France and we are gradually opening the European market, with an admitted preference for bricks-and-mortar shops. They are the ones who keep the game alive, run local communities and put the cards in front of people; that is where the relationship makes the most sense.
